The sixth edition of the Tunisie Challenge came to a close in Mos Espa, near Tozeur, at one of the most iconic locations from the Star Wars saga.
With 72 participating teams and six intense stages, the event delivered an adventure in which the desert took centre stage. A substantially redesigned and demanding route tested the competitors and pushed them to give their very best until the final day.
After six editions, the Tunisie Challenge has established itself as one of the leading amateur motorsport competitions held in Tunisia and the Grand Erg Oriental. The event once again combined excitement, spectacular action and tough challenges, with a route alternating between sand, dunes and tracks of widely varying characteristics.
The heat and terrain conditions increased the difficulty from the very first kilometre. Sections of particularly soft and loose sand began to separate the competitors right from the start, demanding maximum concentration behind the wheel, precise navigation and constant assessment of the terrain.
The demanding nature of the competition was accompanied throughout the week by an extraordinary atmosphere among the participants. The result was an edition that lived up to expectations and remained true to the spirit of the Tunisie Challenge: a challenging event in which there is no room to relax until crossing the finish line.
The 72 registered teams, representing thirteen different nationalities, put their skills and determination to the test. The demanding nature of the route was reflected in the final results: only 46 of the vehicles that started the event managed to complete the competition and qualify for the final classification.
The support of the Tunisian Automobile Federation and the National Tourist Office, together with the collaboration of ferry operator CTN, proved decisive to the success of this sixth edition. Administrative and technical scrutineering took place in the Tunisian capital before the liaison route south, which brought the teams to the start of the competition.
For the first time, the event started in Zarzis, near the island of Djerba. From there, the opening stage took the participants to Zmela Camp, where they spent the night in a camp surrounded by vast expanses of dunes. The route then included two nights in Douz before continuing towards Tozeur and Mos Espa.
The decisive stage took place between Tozeur and Mos Espa, featuring a waypoint navigation challenge introduced into the Tunisie Challenge programme for the first time. This new format kept the tension and excitement alive until the very last moment.
The seventh edition of the event will take place from 7 to 15 October 2027.
