The Mercedes CLK 430 V8, usually used as the briefing car in the Maroc Challenge, is the big novelty we’re taking to Tunisia for the reconnaissance of the fifth edition of the Tunisie Challenge, which will begin on 13 May.
The decision to carry out the reconnaissance in a rear-wheel drive vehicle has been made to evaluate the possibility of introducing new categories in the rally without compromising the current route, which is designed for four-wheel drive vehicles.
The eye-catching Mercedes CLK 430 V8 will be used in Tunisia for the first time, accompanied by one of the regular Nissan Patrols, and is set to become one of the highlights of the coming days.
In the first edition of the Tunisie Challenge, the regulations allowed vehicles with both two- and four-wheel drive. However, by the third edition, participation was restricted to 4x4s to ensure the viability of the route.
We are now considering the creation of a new category for modified rear-wheel drive vehicles, and want to test on-site whether they can successfully tackle the same terrain as the 4x4s.
We will be sharing updates on the reconnaissance and all the latest news about this fifth edition of the Tunisie Challenge through our social media and website. All registration details are also available on the official portal.
